Elite Sports Program
The Elite Sports Program (course name is 'Sports Development') at Lake Ginninderra College has successfully supported local, national & international sporting students since the school opened in 1987 (see our Hall of Fame).
The long standing partnership with the AIS has been part of the school's culture and history and has shaped many of the unique strengths of the college. Staff are experienced at providing flexibility for students who miss significant periods of time due to sporting commitments and students become confident independent learners due to managing their numerous time demands.
Local students in the Elite Sports Program have benefited from a close relationships with the AIS scholarship students and their professional approach to study and sport.
There is a Tertiary & Accredited Course option to select. Students in the program meet twice a week to set, and reflect on, weekly goals, work on assessments and participate in physiotherapy sessions.
There are a number guest presenters and short excursions set for these times as well.
The remainder of the time for this unit is set aside to allow students to catch and manage their other academic commitments.
Every 2 years we also have a major excursion interstate to visit other sporting schools and professional sporting facilities and guest speakers.
Students are required to outlay approximately $85 for the course.
$50 is for a customised Nike Polo. $35 is for a new well-being App (Inspire) that helps monitor and support student athletic progress.
Clublime also offer a special deal to our students for an optional 12 month Platinum membership.
Who can apply?
This is an application based course.
Students who are currently state representatives in their sport will be accepted.
All sports are considered.
Students who are not state representatives will require a coach recommendation to be considered, that effectively states that the student is training and playing at an elite level and would benefit from being in this sporting program.
