Inclusive Education

UCSSC Lake Ginninderra College provides an inclusive learning environment for students with a variety of needs. The inclusion area, affectionately named ‘The PLACe’ (The Personalised Learning Assistance Centre) provides a safe and welcoming space where students can seek the assistance of learning support assistants, work with specialised DECO staff and remove themselves from the typical school environment if needed. Student timetabling and assessment are monitored and students are supported to meet the course requirements in each of their units of study. 'The Place' is always supervised by experienced staff members and provides a unique opportunity for students to use the kitchen area to connect, sit outside in the sunshine or just relax away from other students.

Staff within the inclusion area work collaboratively to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of Individual Learning Plans. These plans are used by school staff to provide assistance and student specific scaffolding learning opportunities in contemporary, accredited, modified and tertiary stream classes. Staff at UCSSC Lake Ginninderra College promote flexible learning programs that are tailored to the individual learning needs of each student.
