Global Studies, Philosophy and Economics (GPE)
UCSSC Lake Ginninderra offers a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary program of learning.
Global Studies, Philosophy and Economics courses help students develop a greater understanding of the world around them and the forces which shape the world – politically, economically, socially and morally.
Each of the disciplines in GPE develops in students analytical, critical, logical and problem-solving skills, which enable them to apply their learning to a wide range of scenarios and situations.
GPE is designed as a purposeful collection of courses, which can be studied in any combination of minors and majors.
Studying one of these courses will gain a student an excellent understanding of that discipline. However it is in the integrated study of two or all three disciplines that a student will achieve the breadth and depth which will yield the greatest learning benefit. Courses are available as Tertiary or Accredited (T/A)
The concept is in the tradition of Oxford University’s Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) program, subsequently offered by most of the world’s top universities. The Australian National University bills PPE as the “passport to some of the world’s most promising careers.”
