In addition to Tertiary & Accredited English courses, the English Faculty is also responsible for the Languages area.
English is a compulsory course for the ACT certificate. Every student needs to complete a minimum of a minor (2 successful Semesters in either Tertiary or Accredited) in English for any ACT College Certificate.
The ACT and Lake Ginninderra College have incorporated the Australian Curriculum into our courses. This means all ACT schools will be studying the same courses throughout year 11 and 12.
Excellent English
English at UC SSC Lake Ginninderra allows students to explore creative and factual texts.
In 2017, we began a Writing Group for students to come and work on technique and on creative pieces. As we build up our work, we’ll showcase it here.
The aim of our writing group is to get out to other workshops, too – we recently went to a characterisation workshop as part of the Noted festival, where writers were given the opportunity to dress as a character to explore that character’s voice. We also have a fortnightly prompt to respond to, so we’re always writing!
