Dress standards/expectations
Lake Ginninderra College is a professional educational environment and workplace. To help prepare you for work and life after college, as well as uphold ACT Government Workplace Health and Safety requirements, it is important that the appropriate attire is worn.
To ensure that all students and staff feel comfortable, safe and respected, everyone on our campus is expected to meet our dress standards.
At UCSSC Lake Ginninderra, students must:
- Meet the Workplace Health and Safety requirements of the learning area/specific subject, class or activity, including:
- Headwear and associated sun smart attire while outdoors
- Clothing suitable for sport, outdoor education or dance in relevant classes
- Closed toe and robust footwear in labs and industrial areas
- Any required safety/personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn in relevant school activities
- Wear protective clothing, including appropriate hats, when outdoors during the school day and participating in school-related activities. Note: sun safe hats are the preferred hat option.
- Wear swim shirts/rash vests during all water-based activities at outdoor venues, except during their race/s at competitions and carnivals.
- Not wear items with offensive slogans/logos or that include offensive language/imagery (swear words, racist/sexist/homophobic/political language, nudity, drug and alcohol references, threatening language/imagery)
- Not wear singlets or see-through/revealing clothing including crop tops
- Not wear athleisure/activewear/lycra (unless being changed into and appropriate for the activity being undertaken eg. PE, sport, dance)
- Not wear pyjamas / ugg boots or other sleepwear/slippers
- Be aware of dress standards whilst working on work experience (WEX) and/or representing the college
